December 10, 2007

AAU offices to be closed December 21-January 2

The Indiana AAU offices will be closed for the holidays from December 21 through January 2. The early closure is due to floor resurfacing work that is scheduled to take place at the new office location beginning on December 20. Happy Holidays to all!


November 15, 2007

Upcoming changes for the 2008 and 2009 AAU seasons

 

Several changes will be taking place for the 2008 and 2009 seasons for Indiana AAU girls basketball teams and players. If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact the Indianapolis AAU office.

 

  • TEAM ENTRY PACKETS AVAILABLE ONLINE ONLY. Due to increased postage rates, Indiana AAU will no longer be mailing team entry packets beginning with the 2008 season. All documents for the 2008 tournament season will be available online on the Membership & Tournament Forms page during the first week of January, if not sooner.
      

  • NEW EMAIL ADDRESS FOR INDIANA AAU. Please note that all future email communicaitons with the Indianapolis AAU office should be sent to indianaaau@comcast.net. This email address will be used for both girls and boys basketball, so we request that you indicate "Girls Basketball" in your email subject line.
      

  • 2009 DOCUMENT SUBMISSIONS. Beginning in August, 2008, all AAU Memberships, Club Memberships, Tournament Sanctions and Third-Party Certificates for the 2009 season must either be submitted online via credit card or mailed to the National AAU Office. More information regarding document submission for 2009 will be available next summer.

Move now complete to new AAU offices

The Indiana AAU offices have now officially moved to our new location in Southport. The address is

All phone numbers are the same. At this time, we do not have Internet access to receive and/or reply to email inquiries, but we expect to have access soon. We will keep you updated.

Annual Meeting minutes and 2008 Bid Sheets now available

Complete minutes from the October Annual Meeting are now available for downloading, together with bid sheets for the 2008 tournament season. Deadline for submission of bid sheets is October 31. Please be sure to send/deliver them to the new office address!

Indiana AAU District offices moving

The offices of Indiana AAU District will begin moving to a new location on Friday, October 19. The new office location will be at:

4150 Kildeer Drive, Suite 2A

Indianapolis, IN 46237.

During the move, there will be no phone service available to the office. Phone service is expected to be reinstated sometime during the day on Monday, October 22. It is uncertain whether or not our phone number will change. Please check here for updates. The annual meeting scheduled for Sunday, October 14, will take place at the current office location.

October Annual Meeting agenda set

The agenda for the October Annual Meeting has been set and is available for downloading. This year's meeting will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at 1:00 pm ET in the Indianapolis offices of Indiana AAU District.

AAU office will be closed

The AAU office in Indianapolis will be closed on Monday, July 23, and again from Thursday, August 23, through Monday, August 27.

 

June 15, 2007

Fever Coaches' Clinic on Thursday, July 12

Where: Conseco Fieldhouse
The Indiana Fever will be hosting a coaches' clinic on Thursday, July 12. The clinic will begin at 5:30 (1 1/2 hours before tipoff) with members of the Fever coaching staff. The clinic will run 30-40 minutes. You must purchase a ticket to the Fever/New York game in order to attend.

 

April 23, 2007

Draw on Thursday

The draw for the 14U/15U, Junior, Senior and Open girls tournaments will be held on Thursday, May 3rd at 6:00 pm at the Indiana AAU office.

 

April 17, 2007

Regional entry deadline looming

Registration deadline for teams in the 14U, 15U, JR Girls (16U/17U), SR Girls (18U) and Open (19U) Divisions is Friday, April 20.

Indianapolis AAU Office hours for Good Friday

The AAU girls basketball office will be open on Friday, April 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Regular office hours will resume on Monday, April 9th.

Annual Meeting minutes now available

The 2005 Annual Meeting was held in the Indianapolis AAU Office on October 16 and the minutes from the meeting are now available online.

2007 bid forms now available

Bid sheets are now available online for the 2007 Indiana AAU Tournament. All bids must be in receipt by the Indianapolis office by October 24 in order to be considered.

Indianapolis AAU Office closed during Memorial Day Weekend

The AAU girls basketball office will be closed Friday, May 26 for the Memorial Day weekend, and resume office hours on Tuesday, May 30.

National Championship qualification rules reminder

If a team qualifies for a Division-I National Championship, that team cannot play in a Division-II National Championship (this applies to both D-I players and teams). Any team that does not qualify for D-I Nationals is eligible to play in their respective D-II National Championship. Teams that qualify for D-I or D-II may pick up a player from D-II. (See additional rules in the Handbook regarding " pick-up " players or contact the National Office at 407-934-7200 ask for Girls Basketball.)

   

April 26, 2006

Second site to be added for 16U Regional

Indiana District AAU will add a second site for the 16U Regional. That site will be located at Mishawaka. Each site will host between 16 and 20 teams. Exact info will be posted on the Tournament Draw section next week. If any other teams wishes to enter they need to contact the AAU office or Walt by 5:00pm Thursday, April 27th, 2006.

Indiana Fever AAU Nights

The WNBA Indiana Fever is offering two specials for AAU teams and players in May and June. Also, feel free to contact Fever representative Kristopher Kovatovic (317-917-2828) if your team is interested in playing a game on the Conseco Fieldhouse main floor.

16/18/19 Regional Tournament Additional Site-If Necessary

We have received numerous calls with concerns over the Regional Site for the 16/18/19 age division site being so far to the south. We will be prepared , if numbers require us, to add a second northern site. This will only occur if it is deemed necessary by numbers. We do not want teams to not enter due to travel distance.

April 7-9 Invitational cancelled

The AAU Invitational for 9U/10U/11U and 4th/5th/6th teams on April 7-9 at ISSA has been cancelled. Please contact the Indianapolis AAU Office for information on refunding or transferring your team's entry fee.

IMPORTANT: Changes for teams entering Super Regional Tournaments

All teams needing membership cards for a Super Regional Tournament (held between February 1 through May 31) need to have all forms and fees turned into the office at least two weeks prior to the Super Regional Tournament in which they are playing. Also, a note must be attached to your paperwork indicating that you need the cards for a Super Regional Tournament and which dates the tournament will be held. This will enable the office to get your memberships processed in time for your team's participation in the tournament.

Invitational Deadline Extended thru March 18

The Entry Deadline for the Invitationals on April 7th- 9th at the ISSA in Indianapolis for grades 4th, 5th & 6th and ages 9U/10U/11U as well as the Invitational on April 21st -23rd at Franklin for the 7th & 8th grade and 12U/13U will be extended through this Saturday, March 18, 2006.

 

We have had some coaches contact us to let us know they are having trouble getting paperwork together due to many of the middle school seasons just finishing up.

Summary of rule changes for 2006

A summary of rule changes for the 2006 AAU season are as follows:

 

  • Teams must supply game personnel at tournaments
    Participating teams will need to supply either a scorebook keeper or a clock keeper at all AAU tournaments. See 2006 Rules Manual Section II No. 4f on page 4.
     

  • No Indiana AAU funding will be made for Super Regional qualifying teams
    Any team that qualifies for a National Championship bid via a Super Regional Tournament held prior to the Indiana District State Finals, must take their Super Regional bid and will NOT receive any National entry funds from the District qualifier.
     

  • Junior Eligible Division now permanent
    The 16U age division has become the Junior Eligible Division. See details on page 5 (No. 15a) of the 2006 Rules Manual.
     

  • 17U Division eliminated
    Due to making the Junior Eligible rule permanent for 16U players, the 17U Division was eliminated and changed to 18U. So we now have 16U/18U/19U Divisions.
     

  • New AAU Code of Conduct
    Indiana AAU Girls Basketball Committee’s “Code of Conduct”on page 11 of 2006 Rules Manual.

All necessary flyers and forms for the upcoming 2006 AAU season will be distributed out of the Indianapolis AAU office on February 1.

Indianapolis AAU Office closed during Thanksgiving Week

The AAU girls basketball office will be closed during the week of November 21. Office hours will resume on Monday, November 28.

Annual Meeting Held, Tournament Bid deadline November 4

The 2005 Annual Meeting was held in the Indianapolis AAU Office on October 16 and the minutes from the meeting are now available. Also, bid sheets are available for the 2006 Indiana AAU Tournament. The bid deadline is November 4 (bids must reach the AAU office by November 7).

New message board now available

Indiana AAU Girls Basketball has a new message board for the use of its members. Please go to the Message Board to register. All registrants must agree to abide by the rules and guidelines set forth by the AAU Chair.

Special guest to appear at the April 12 tournament draw

An unnamed special guest from the WNBA Indianapolis Fever organization will appear and speak at the April 12 AAU tournament draw at the Indianapolis office. The draw is set to take place at 6:00 p.m.

 

March 2, 2005

7th/8th Spring Invitational cancelled

Due to a lack of entries, the 7th/8th Spring Invitational scheduled for March 18-20 at the Nolan Fieldhouse in Sellersburg has been cancelled. The draw for the 4th/5th/6th Spring Invitational on March 11-13 is available on the Schedules & Draws page.

 

February 18, 2005

New form required for "Junior Eligible" players

On a trial basis for one year, an athlete who is 17 years old prior to January 1, 2005, will be allowed to participate in the 16U Division if she has high school eligibility remaining. However, a new form is required for players falling under this new National AAU rule. The form must be signed by an administrator of the player's school and attached to her birth certificate when submitted with the Regional/State Entry Form. The Junior Eligible form is available on our Forms page.

Bid forms for 2005 AAU Tournaments available

Bid forms for the 2005 AAU Tournament season are now available on the Membership & Tournament Forms page. The deadline for submission of a tournament bid is Friday, November 5. Forms and bid fees must be in receipt by the the Indianapolis AAU Office by November 5th to be considered. Bids will be awarded on Tuesday, November 9, by the Executive Committee.

The Indiana AAU District Annual Meeting for girls basketball will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2004, at the AAU office at 1420 Sadlier Circle East Drive in Indianapolis at 1:30 p.m. The meeting agenda is as follows:

  1. Chair’s report on 2004 AAU Girls Basketball results, association and national.
  2. Report of the 2004 AAU National Convention on items that impact Girls Basketball.
  3. Association office elections (elections effective immediately)
  4. Review of bid procedure and setting of tentative dates for our 2005 Indiana Association tournaments.
  5. Legislative session for proposed amendments to our Indiana AAU Girls Basketball Manual
  6. Any other new business.

Indiana AAU Offices closed on Memorial Day

The AAU Offices in Indianapolis will be closed on Monday, May 31 for the Memorial Day holiday. Also, the office will be closed on Friday, June 4 and Monday, June 7.

The north site for the April 16-18 Developmental Tournament for 10U/11U and 4th/5th/6th has been changed from Monticello to Fishers. Please make changes to your travel plans accordingly.
