Indianapolis AAU Office closed during the holidays
The AAU girls basketball office will be closed from Wednesday, December
23, through Sunday, January 3. Office hours will resume on Monday, January 4.

 Fever's Tully Bevilaqua Basketball Camp
set for December 21-22
WNBA Fever star Tully Bevilaqua will be conducting a basketball camp at the Fishers Fieldhouse for girls and boys ages 6-17 on December 21 and 22. While working on basketball skills, such as shooting, ball
handling, and defense, Tully also wants to use the benefit of
sport and competition to build our children’s character,
decision-making and overall personal development so they can

Tournament deadlines extended for Regional Tournament
The deadlines for the Regional Tournament have been extended to April 7th for 8U/3rd, 9U/4th, 10U/5th, 11U/6th, 12U/7th, 13U/8th, 16U/11th/Open Tournaments.

Invitational Tournament deadline extended
The deadline for the Invitational Tournament will be extended to April 1st. Please contact the AAU office or Walt Raines if you are still interested in participating.

Please make sure your tournament entries are properly submitted
Due to changes in how a team and/or club gets its Club Membership & AAU Membership Cards starting this year, AND due to the changes in the Indiana District entry paperwork for Invitational & Regional Tournaments, each coach needs to read the changes in the 2009 Manual or review the FAQ section on this website regarding entries. Please be aware that paperwork needs to be completed as stated or it will not be accepted for tournament entry.

ATTENTION all Coaches! NEW Grade Exception Form requirements
With the new changes on divisions, the National Committee has a "Grade Exception Form" that is required to be filled out and signed by a school administrator. You will need this form for any athlete that would fall under the grade level and year-of-birth cutoff, for example: 10U/5th - Any athlete that is in the 5th Grade and born in 1997 or after.
If you have any questions if a player needs one of these forms, please go to the National Girls website (www.aaugirlsbasketball.org) and select "Age Determining Date."
As for the Indiana AAU District tournaments, the Grade Exception form
is not required to be turned in with your entry paperwork; but like the birth certificates, a coach must have a copy with him at ALL tournaments. If there is a question regarding an athlete as to age or grade level at a tournament, then a copy of her birth certificate or Grade Exception Form must be shown before the athlete in question will be allowed to play.

Invitational and Regional tournament information and forms are now available on the Forms page for downloading. Also, tournament packets will be mailed out to all Club Contacts and Head Coaches on file during the first part of February.

2009 tournament host sites announced
Host sites for the 2009 tournament season are now available for downloading on the forms page. The planned Site Directors meeting previously scheduled for December 14 has been cancelled due to the inability of a number of Site Directors to attend the meeting on that day. The AAU Office will be sending Site Directors information regarding hosting requirements via email.

Annual Meeting moved back
Because the AAU National Convention will not be held until the end of October, the Annual Meeting for Indiana AAU District Girls Basketball will not take place until Sunday, November 9 of this year.

New 2009 membership rules apply beginning August 15
As required by National AAU rules, all tournament sanctions, third-party certificates, club memberships and player/coach memberships will have to be completed by one of two methods:

Printing the forms available on the National AAU website and mailing them to the national office with payment, or
-
Completing the forms online and paying for them by credit card on the National AAU website.
If you have any problems while executing any of the forms or payment, please call the National AAU Office directly at 407-934-7200. The Indiana District will no longer be able to process these items through our office.

The 14U and 15U Invitational originally scheduled for May 2-4 at Chesterton and Southport have been cancelled.

Deadline extended
The 14U, 15U, Jr. Girls & Open Division Tournament entry deadline date for Regionals has been extended from April 15 to April 18. Entries must be in the office by noon on Friday.

March 30 deadline extended to March 31
Regional entries for 8U through 13U teams and 3rd through 8th grade teams must be in the AAU office by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 31. The original deadline date is listed as March 30, but the AAU OFFICES WILL NOT BE OPEN OVER THE WEEKEND.

Age determining dates for grade divisions
After further investigation we have decided to go with the grade match up that we have used in the past. It is listed below. This makes more sense from the standpoint that we want kids playing with their grade levels. Hope this helps with the grade divisions.

8U - Born on or after - July 1, 1998
9U - Born on or after - July 1, 1997 = 3rd grade
10U - Born on or after - July 1, 1996 = 4th grade
11U - Born on or after - July 1, 1995 = 5th grade
12U - Born on or after - July 1, 1994 = 6th grade
13U - Born on or after - July 1, 1993 = 7th grade
14U - Born on or after - July 1, 1992 = 8th grade
15U - Born on or after - July 1, 1991

AAU offices to be closed December 21-January
2
The Indiana AAU offices will be closed for the holidays from December
21 through January 2. The early closure is due to floor resurfacing
work that is scheduled to take place at the new office location
beginning on December 20. Happy Holidays to all!

Upcoming changes for the 2008 and 2009 AAU seasons
Several changes will be taking place for the 2008 and 2009 seasons
for Indiana AAU girls basketball teams and players. If you have
any questions regarding these changes, please contact the Indianapolis
AAU office.

TEAM ENTRY PACKETS AVAILABLE ONLINE ONLY. Due to increased
postage rates, Indiana AAU will no longer be mailing team entry
packets beginning with the 2008 season. All documents for the
2008 tournament season will be available online on the Membership
& Tournament Forms page during the first week of January,
if not sooner.

NEW EMAIL ADDRESS FOR INDIANA AAU. Please note that
all future email communicaitons with the Indianapolis AAU office
should be sent to indianaaau@comcast.net.
This email address will be used for both girls and boys basketball,
so we request that you indicate "Girls Basketball"
in your email subject line.

2009 DOCUMENT SUBMISSIONS. Beginning in August, 2008,
all AAU Memberships, Club Memberships, Tournament Sanctions
and Third-Party Certificates for the 2009 season must either
be submitted online via credit card or mailed to the National
AAU Office. More information regarding document submission for
2009 will be available next summer.

Indiana AAU District offices moving
 The offices
of Indiana AAU District will begin moving to a new location on Friday,
October 19. The new office location will be at:
4150 Kildeer Drive, Suite 2A
Indianapolis, IN 46237.
During the move, there will be no phone service available to the
office. Phone service is expected to be reinstated sometime during
the day on Monday, October 22. It is uncertain whether or not our
phone number will change. Please check here for updates. The annual
meeting scheduled for Sunday, October 14, will take place at the
current office location.

Fever Coaches' Clinic on Thursday, July 12
Where: Conseco Fieldhouse
The Indiana Fever will be hosting a coaches' clinic on Thursday,
July 12. The clinic will begin at 5:30 (1 1/2 hours before tipoff)
with members of the Fever coaching staff. The clinic will run 30-40
minutes. You must purchase a ticket to the Fever/New York game in
order to attend.

The draw for the 14U/15U, Junior, Senior and Open girls tournaments
will be held on Thursday, May 3rd at 6:00 pm at the Indiana AAU
office.

Indianapolis AAU Office closed during Memorial
Day Weekend
The AAU girls basketball office will be closed Friday, May 26 for
the Memorial Day weekend, and resume office hours on Tuesday, May
30.

National Championship qualification rules reminder
If a team qualifies for a Division-I National Championship,
that team cannot play in a Division-II National Championship (this
applies to both D-I players and teams). Any team that does not qualify
for D-I Nationals is eligible to play in their respective D-II National
Championship. Teams that qualify for D-I or D-II may pick up a player
from D-II. (See additional rules in the Handbook
regarding " pick-up " players or contact the National
Office at 407-934-7200 ask for Girls Basketball.)

Second site to be added for 16U Regional
Indiana District AAU will add a second site for the
16U Regional. That site will be located at Mishawaka. Each site
will host between 16 and 20 teams. Exact info will be posted on
the Tournament Draw section next week. If any other teams wishes
to enter they need to contact the AAU office or Walt by 5:00pm Thursday,
April 27th, 2006.

The WNBA Indiana Fever is offering two
specials for AAU teams and players in May and June. Also, feel

16/18/19 Regional Tournament Additional Site-If
Necessary
We have received numerous calls with concerns over the Regional
Site for the 16/18/19 age division site being so far to the south.
We will be prepared , if numbers require us, to add a second northern
site. This will only occur if it is deemed necessary by numbers.
We do not want teams to not enter due to travel distance.

The AAU Invitational for 9U/10U/11U and 4th/5th/6th teams on April
7-9 at ISSA has been cancelled. Please contact the Indianapolis
AAU Office for information on refunding or transferring your team's
entry fee.

IMPORTANT: Changes for teams entering Super
Regional Tournaments
All teams needing membership cards for a Super Regional Tournament
(held between February 1 through May 31) need to have all forms
and fees turned into the office at least two
weeks prior to the Super Regional Tournament in which they
are playing. Also, a note must be attached to your paperwork indicating
that you need the cards for a Super Regional Tournament and which
dates the tournament will be held. This will enable the office to
get your memberships processed in time for your team's participation
in the tournament.

Invitational Deadline Extended thru March 18
The Entry Deadline for the Invitationals on April 7th- 9th at the
ISSA in Indianapolis for grades 4th, 5th & 6th and ages 9U/10U/11U
as well as the Invitational on April 21st -23rd at Franklin for
the 7th & 8th grade and 12U/13U will be extended through this
Saturday, March 18, 2006.
We have had some coaches contact us to let us know they are having
trouble getting paperwork together due to many of the middle school
seasons just finishing up.

Summary of rule changes for 2006
A summary of rule changes for the 2006 AAU season are as follows:
-
Teams must supply game personnel at tournaments
Participating teams will need to supply either a scorebook
keeper or a clock keeper at all AAU tournaments. See 2006
Rules Manual Section II No. 4f on page 4.

No Indiana AAU funding will be made for Super Regional
qualifying teams
Any team that qualifies for a National Championship
bid via a Super Regional Tournament held prior to the Indiana
District State Finals, must take their Super Regional bid and
will NOT receive any National entry funds from the District
qualifier.
-
Junior Eligible Division now permanent
The 16U age division has become the Junior Eligible Division.
See details on page 5 (No. 15a) of the 2006
Rules Manual.

17U Division eliminated
Due to making the Junior Eligible rule permanent for 16U players,
the 17U Division was eliminated and changed to 18U. So we now
have 16U/18U/19U Divisions.

Conduct”on page 11 of 2006 Rules

An unnamed special guest from the WNBA Indianapolis Fever organization
will appear and speak at the April 12 AAU tournament draw at the

Due to a lack of entries, the 7th/8th Spring Invitational scheduled
for March 18-20 at the Nolan Fieldhouse in Sellersburg has been
cancelled. The draw for the 4th/5th/6th Spring Invitational on March

New form required for "Junior Eligible"
players
On a trial basis for one year, an athlete who is 17 years old prior
to January 1, 2005, will be allowed to participate in the 16U Division
if she has high school eligibility remaining. However, a new form
is required for players falling under this new
National AAU rule. The form must be signed by an administrator
of the player's school and attached to her birth certificate when
submitted with the Regional/State Entry Form. The Junior Eligible
form is available on our Forms page.
